Founding Directors Molly Nampitjin Miller, Yaritji Connelly and manager Claire Eltringham from Ninuku Arts, along with Ginger Wikilyiri , Keith Stevens and managers Amanda Dent and Brian Hallett from Tjungu Palya embarked on an epic journey in May/June this year.
The journey began in Melbourne where the artists where special guests at the opening of the Living Water exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. Ninuku Artists featured in the exhibition included Harry Tjutjuna and Telstra Award winner in 2010 Jimmy Donegan.
From Melbourne, the group of seven took a long flight to Singapore where they were involved in the Inkanyi Ngura (Singing Country) exhibition at Redot Gallery. Giorgio Pilla was a generous host, welcoming us all to a place far different to what we were all used to. (insert pictures titled Singapore). Despite attending a preview for the Friends of the Gallery group, a session teaching children at the gallery and the opening itself, the artists still had time for some shopping and site seeing including a visit to the zoo and China town where there were some bargains to be had.
The majority of the 3-4 week trip was spent in Germany. The group were there to celebrate the showing of a touring exhibition (to 4 different venues) of work from the western APY Lands hosted by Art Kelch Gallery. We were able to see the closing of one of the venues and the opening of another. The images here are from the first venue at a private Museum in Stuttgart and the second venue in Frieburg.
